Programming Lead - Cultural Venues
- Fixed Term Contract until 30 November 2024
- Band 6 Annualised salary from $96,125 - $103,838 per annum plus superannuation
- Located at the Civic Hall and Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat
City of Ballarat is home to some of Australia’s most historically significant Cultural Venues including Her Majesty’s Theatre, Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange. City of Ballarat’s Cultural Venues team is embarking on exciting period of change and growth with Victoria’s oldest theatre, Her Majesty’s re-opening for its 150th anniversary after multiple stages of revitalisation, and Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange being reimagined for the future.
We are looking for a strategically minded specialist with national networks and knowledge across multiple artforms to lead programming through a period of establishment and transition. This critical role will be focused on breathing life into a freshly repositioned Her Majesty’s Theatre after a significant period of closure. Tasked with the development and delivery of key programs and projects, the role will be specifically responsible for Her Majesty’s Theatre’s Reopening Gala, 150th Anniversary Celebration and 2025 Annual Performing Arts Program.
This challenging and rewarding role with work collaboratively across the Experience and Economy Division, local arts community and performing arts sector to proactively build relationships to realise the ambition and potential of Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Key Selection Criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Arts Management or related field with relevant work experience or lesser qualification and relevant experience commensurate with the skills and requirements required for the position.
- Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote the corporate values.
- Demonstrated ability to produce and deliver successful programming outcomes in a performing arts venue and/or major arts festival context.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively build sector, stakeholder and community relationships to deliver successful programming outcomes.
- Demonstrated budget management including delivery of financially sustainable programming outcomes.
- Understanding of performing arts consumer markets and developing programs supported by insights and data.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute to a positive and uplifting team culture.
