The Organisation:
Our Client, Miromaa Aboriginal Language and Technology Centre, is an award-winning NGO. Miromaa empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders across Australia and Indigenous people around the world in revitalising and conserving knowledge through language. Miromaa work closely with mob, the community, and local schools to deliver culturally specific and language-centric programs to young people, as well as supporting local Organisations to better understand the Awabakal language.
What you’ll be doing (the role):
The Project Coordinator will assist in delivering and supporting the Awabakal language program. This is an administration-based role where you will:
- Provide administration and customer service support to stakeholders.
- Consult with local community members and Elders to gain a deeper understanding of the Awabakal language.
- Assist in project development and promotion.
- Deliver and support Awabakal language and culture workshops and presentations.
- Undertake guided research on the Awabakal language.
- Assist in the creation of program-related content for publication on the Organisation’s website, eNews, and social media platforms.
About you:
You will enjoy helping the community understand the value of our Awabakal Language, Culture, and Country while delivering professional, high-quality customer service. You will also enjoy immersing yourself in our Awabakal language and culture through research and conversations with our First Nations community.
Our successful candidate will:
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- Have sensitivity to cultural values and practices.
- Be computer literate, with preferred experience in an administration role.
- Have an enthusiasm for learning.
- Have a desire to connect with Aboriginal culture.
- Be able to work from Miromaa’s Lake Macquarie office location (Boolaroo, 2284).
