The Utilities Strategy & Growth team have a rare opportunity for a Project Development Manager / Bid Manager to join our Pre-Contracts team in a full-time capacity based in a metro location Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.
The Project Development Manager is responsible for developing winning tenders and proposals from the Planning Phase of an opportunity, through the Preparation and Negotiation phases to handover. This role requires an experienced person that has excellent communication and negotiation skills both with Internal and external stakeholders and confidently be able to capture a solution and provide a compelling offer to our customers whilst simultaneously undertaking the required governance to pass all internal gates.
THE ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Leading the development, shaping, bidding and winning activity of project opportunities. Position and deliver winning bids securing work to achieve budgeted financial targets
- Assist to identify and build a robust pipeline of potential new opportunities. Bid, manage the tendering processes and win these new opportunities.
- leading assigned tender teams through the tender and post tender phases of opportunities ensuring bids and tenders are planned, prepared and delivered in line with Downer Utilities business strategy.
- Ensuring all bids are properly shaped and appropriate win themes and go/no-go processes are undertaken before bid cost investment allocated.
- Write and produce bid and tender development process plans, preparing for negotiation and handover phase
- Provide comprehensive research and analysis on client requirements for bid preparation, including reviewing contract documents, technical specifications and requirements and drawings
- Manage internal governance processes associated with Opportunities based on risk, time schedule and cost in accordance with Downer standard
- Manage stakeholder communications, queries, negotiations and post-tender interviews
- Assist in delivering client presentations
ABOUT YOU:
- Formal qualifications (Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or bachelor's degree in engineering) preferred but not essential coupled with at least five years plus experience in a similar role. Preference will be to a Power Systems, specifically Transmission Lines and Transmission Substation background or Energy Network space but not essential.
- Experience leading complex Design & Construction, Construct Only, or Maintenance services bids.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Due to the nature of tender/bid deadlines, flexibility in work hours is required. (i.e. not always between the hours of 8.00am-5.00pm)
- Be required to travel nationally to attend site visits and attend meetings with clients as required
