The NLC is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to lead the Gamba Eradication and Biodiversity Project within the NLC region.,. The Project Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Gamba Grass Eradication and Biodiversity Conservation Project and will work closely with a range of stakeholders to selectively eradicate gamba grass from the NT Gamba Eradication zone.
The key duties of the position include:The Project ManagerGamba Eradication and Biodiversity Conservation position is responsible for the effective development, implementation and management of the Gamba Grass Eradication and Biodiversity Conservation Project (the Project). The project focuses on reducing the risks posed by gamba grass (Andropogon gayanus; ‘gamba’) to high priority biodiversity conservation values located in the Gamba Eradication zone in the NT. The project will be guided by existing Northern Territory and Australian biodiversity conservation and weed management legislation and supporting legislative instruments e.g. management plans. The Northern Land Council (NLC) led and Australian Government, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) funded project will work with key stakeholders to selectively eradicate gamba grass from the NT Gamba Eradication zone. It is expected that a large amount of the project will occur on Aboriginal land and working with Indigenous Rangers. The Project is funded to operate 2024 to June 2026.
EligibilityESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Completion of Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Ecosystem Management or significant experience in a role related to invasive species management or related areas of expertise.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience administering and managing a remote extension program or large projects including budgetary and contract management.
Sound understanding of, and interest in, the lived experiences of Aboriginal people in the NLC region.
High-level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving abilities to develop and implement best practice threat abatement management plans for remote, difficult to access locations.
Effective communication and negotiation skills across a broad range of stakeholders (government and non-government) and in cross-cultural contexts.
Sound computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs
A current NT drivers’ licence.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Sound understanding of existing legislation and policies relevant to the GEBC project.
Basic understanding of existing natural resource management and Biodiversity conservation plans on Aboriginal lands in the Northern Territory.
Previous experience in developing and implementing an Evaluative Framework, including data management system/s to manage quantitative and qualitative data.

This position is classified under our Enterprise Agreement at Senior Officer level (Grade B), with a commencing base salary of $106,708 per annum.
In addition to base salary, you will receive:
14% superannuation;
District allowance starting at $2,539 per annum
Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2,724;
Generous leave entitlements such as 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 18 days personal leave, and paid Christmas close down;
Salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 and additional Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
