About the region
The Barwon South West Health Service Partnership is a collaboration among the 12 public health services in the region. It is georgraphically diverse including the larger regional centres of Geelong ( ) and Warrnambool ( ) as well as coastal and inland towns and rural communities. The partnership supports a range of regional initiatives, including this Aboriginal Health Improvement Initiative.

With the largest population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people outside of Melbourne metro, Barwon Health provides an essential service to local Community.
Barwon Health's mission is to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Barwon and surrounding regions. The Aboriginal Health Unit provides a holistic, innovative and strategic response for the identified needs of the community and those accessing Barwon Health. Our approach is underpinned by the principles of self-determination and social and emotional wellbeing.
About the role
The Project Officer will work within a small team to assist in the implementing the Aboriginal Health Improvement project across the Barwon South West (BSW) region. This project aims to understand the journey and experience of First Nations people in Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centres at Barwon Health, Colac Area Health and Portland District Health to inform and improve cultural safety. The role includes engaging with key stakeholders to assist in developing, implementing, supporting, and analysing and reporting on project initiatives.
- Full support will be provided and profesional development opportunities will be available to those open to learning skills in project management
- Due to the Project covering a large regional area we are open to multiple roles (part time or full time) with the potential to be located at any of the three participating health services
- Please note that this role may require travel throughout the region

, and the Living Expenses capped at $9,010 which includes repayments on mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and rental payments and Meal Entertainment & Accommodation capped at $2,650 which includes food and drink consumed in a social or entertainment settings and some accommodation expenditure

Essential: Experience administering or supporting projects, or equivalent experience in supporting business processes; well developed organisational skills
Essential: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, teams, key stakeholders, community and consumers
Essential: Well-developed computer literacy including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
Essential: Valid drivers licence for use within Victoria/Australia, and the ability to travel across the BSW region including overnight where required
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in the effective coordination of projects and resources, possibly within a healthcare setting
Desirable: Developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines and with minimal supervision
Essential: I agree, to commence employment, I am required to meet Barwon Health's immunisation requirements (including full Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination) set out in the Staff Immunisation Policy.
