We are currently looking for Project Officer - Equipment Development and Maintenance to join one of our clients based in Altona North, VIC.
Full time position with salary ranging from $73,000 to $89,000 + Super.
Mon to Fri 8am to 4pm (In Office)
38hrs a week (7.6hrs a day)Position Purpose
The Project Officer - Equipment Development and Maintenance delivers high quality maintenance, repair and service of equipment and related supplies to regions for the management of fire preparedness, prevention and response activities.
The Division
Infrastructure and Resources: To provide State-wide design and delivery of operational enablers for forest and fire management, and broader regional program and service delivery by BFS. The Infrastructure and Resources Division works across the department, Forest Fire Management Victoria partners, and fire and emergency management agencies to support the operational implementation of Safer Together: a new approach to reducing the risk of bushfire in Victoria.
The Branch
Capability and Logistics: To manage the development of a highly skilled workforce and the procurement and supply of fit for purpose equipment to support safe and effective forest, fire and emergency management operations. The branch also provides innovative technology systems to support the planning and delivery of services to the community.Accountabilities
- Contribute to the delivery of high quality equipment and supply maintenance for the regions, that contributes to the Capability and Logistics Branch services to meet business and operational objectives and priorities.
- Coordinate the introduction and implementation of new and improved equipment and organise staff training in its operation.
- Provide services for Equipment Development and emergency management logistics.
- Monitor and review national and international approaches and equipment for fire and emergency management, assess applicability to DEECA and suggest future directions and usage.
- Review the consistency and compliance of DEECA equipment with national standards and compatibility with other State and National fire services where appropriate.
- Work with the Regional Directorates, Office of the Chief Fire Officer and Forest and Fire Operations teams to ensure the consistent, integrated and efficient delivery of equipment maintenance services across BFS.
- Ensure departmental and group requirements are met in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirements.
- Identify emerging issues, risks and trends impacting on the successful achievement of objectives and priorities and suggest solutions and options.
- Contribute to the delivery of group and departmental priorities, and to building an inclusive and high performing workforce that is customer focussed, collaborative, professional and engaged.
- To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Victorian Driver's Licence
- Fitter & Turner or similar Metal Trade qualification
- Forklift Licence to perform High Risk Work
- Able to pass national police check
- Must be Australia Citizen or PR
- Qualification and experience related to logistics or equipment standards management
- Experience in the use of CAD (Computer Aided Design) using Autodesk Inventor highly regarded.
