Sandhurst Fine Foods is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our team to support our Procurement teams
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for the purchasing of all finished goods, raw materials, packaging and other miscellaneous consumables in the business.
Working within a small team other responsibilities of this role include:
- Purchasing of finished goods, raw materials from local and overseas suppliers as required for the day-to-day operations.
- Supplier management including updating and maintaining supplier database and ensuring that all supplies and materials are suitable for intended use, received in acceptable condition.
- Liase with inventory management/production to ensure adequate inventory levels within min/max/safety levels, maintaining accurate records and replenishments to meet business needs
- Provide reporting of specific inventories in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Create and maintain supplier relationships.
- Procure stock required to support the business production requirements.
- Utilising Netsuite to forecast requirements.
- Raising Purchase orders.
- Scheduling annual contracts, incorporating seasonal product lines and bookings with suppliers.
- Creating proposed purchase orders, ordering goods and consumables.
- Liaising with local and overseas suppliers;
- Liaising with Sales, Production and Warehousing teams.
- Liaising with Freight companies and negotiating international freight.
- Liaising with Freight companies on progress of container/shipments and update reports:
- Administration, receiving, scanning, on-forwarding container documents for clearance purposes and container collection.
- Raising claims for damages or quality issues with suppliers, and where required arrange for return of goods.
- Obtain product specifications and certificates of analysis as required
The successful candidate will have the following:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a purchasing role, ideally within the food or beverage industry.
- Display a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to work across multiple systems
- Previous experience with a large volume of busy supply channels - both sea and air freight.
- Strong background in inventory management.
- Display a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication skills.
