ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
Accountable for the review and compliance of all purchase requisitions raised within Council's purchasing system, the Purchasing Officer works closely with the Stores Officer, Business Unit Managers and Coordinators to ensure customer experience standards are upheld, and bulk depot items such as fuel, construction items and other key materials used by Council are available as required. This role is the subject matter expert for Council's Procure to Pay function and provides systems support and advice to all staff.
Key responsibilities include;
- Effectively operate the purchasing function, including sourcing products, interviewing supply representatives, purchase order placement, reviewing annual supply contracts etc
- Monitor Council purchasing activities by performing regular sample transactions reviews, checking that purchasing activities follow Council’s adopted procedure, and complete regular compliance reporting on purchasing transactions
- Coach and guide staff in following purchasing policies and procedures
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Procure to Pay Authority Altitude system
- Ensure that all procurement records including quotations are appropriately filed in Council’s Records Management System
- Assist the Stores Officer in ensuring the Store function meets the needs of the organisation
- Dealing with supplier queries and complaints to maintain the businesses reputation
This position is offered on a full-time basis working 38 hours per week for a term up to January 2026.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 10 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $75,331 - $84,738 per annum plus superannuation.
