About the role
We are currently seeking a passionate, and dedicated Male Recovery Worker and a Recovery Worker to join the Ngulla Mia team. Ngulla Mia provides a person-centred environment, where you will be working with residents in a trauma informed way, providing individualised support and recovery-based group work. Recovery Worker will be responsible for developing individualised recovery plans with residents, facilitating regular recovery-based groups and 1:1 keywork sessions.
Both these positions are full time positions, offering 75 hours per fortnight. This will include one night (1-9pm per week) and occasional weekends.
Other responsibilities include
- Work alongside residents to identify individualised recovery goals, and develop an individualised Recovery support plan, while reviewing these on a regular basis.
- Provide 1:1 key work and work alongside residents to support the achievement of their goals.
- Provide psychosocial support to residents residing within the residential service.
- Facilitate regular recovery-based support groups.
- Support people to navigate mental distress.
- Include Family members, carers and people of significance to the person as identified and directed by the individual.
- Actively participate in required internal meetings, supervision sessions/practice reflection sessions and training.
- Assist Recovery Support Workers with the implementation of actions towards goals as identified on the consumer’s recovery plan.
About Ngulla Mia
Based in East Perth, Ngulla Mia is a 32-bed facility that provides a safe and secure residence for adults experiencing mental distress, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We aim to provide a safe space, where everyone is welcomed and valued. We provide tailored support aimed at meeting the individual needs of our clients and enable them to pursue their recovery goals.
About you
To be considered for this role, you will possess;
- Minimum Diploma or University qualification in health or relevant human service discipline.
- Experience in working in mental health or community services setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment, promoting total wellbeing and holistic health services.
- Experience in facilitating therapeutic groups.
- Trauma informed practice skills and the understanding of the impact of trauma and literacy around trauma responses.
- Ability to facilitate emotional and personal recovery.
- Ability to hold hope for recovery.
- Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental distress.
- Lived experience of mental health recovery or as family members of people with a lived experience of recovery is desirable
- Current WA Driver's License
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance (no older than 6 months).
