About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Public Realm & Urban Design, you will be responsible for direction and leadership in sport and recreation planning, strategy and policy development.
As Council’s lead liaison, you will work with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure implementation of recreation strategies, upgrading buildings and sports facilities and in general responding to enquiries from these stakeholders. With your positive business mindset, you will be responsible to undertake community engagement and data analysis to support evidence-based planning, strategy and policy development, whilst also monitor and managing an operating and project specific capital budget.
This is a fixed term position until 13 May 2025.
The right person will have skills and experience in the following:
- Qualification or significant experience in Recreation Planning, Sport and Recreation Management
- Planning, strategy development and implementation
- Policy development preferably in the public sector
- Leading and delivering successful sport and recreation projects, including master planning, strategy or policy development and implementation
- Project management principles and managing projects
- Leading and undertaking effective communication and community engagement in a political environment
- Engaging with, and building value-adding relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Resource management, mentoring and coaching individuals to deliver quality outcomes
- Microsoft Office and corporate digital applications
- Unencumbered Australian drivers licence
- White Card (highly desirable)
