The Opportunity:
As a Scrub/Scout (Instrument/Circulating Nurse), you will play a vital role in our Cardiothoracic Operating Theatres. Your responsibilities will include:
- Evidenced-Based Care: Providing evidenced-based care, developing clinical skills while keeping up to date with professional standards of practice, and quality management initiatives consistent with organisational policies.
- Flexible Hours: Cardiothoracic Operating Theatres provide elective, urgent, and emergency procedural services. Some out-of-hours work may be required to meet patient needs.
- Quality Improvement: Participating in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation, and safe work activities within the practice setting.
- Health Promotion: Providing health promotion and education to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve individual health outcomes.
- Mentorship: Supporting nursing/midwifery practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff, and preceptorship of graduates.
- Research: Participating in evaluative research activities within the practice setting, utilizing foundation theoretical knowledge and evidence-based guidelines to achieve positive patient/client care outcomes.

The Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit (CTSU) is a specialised healthcare facility located within Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital in Southern Adelaide, Australia. CTSU is dedicated to providing surgical management for a wide range of cardiovascular and thoracic conditions, ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care. CTSU works closely with several departments, including Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Anaesthesia, and Intensive Care, to ensure patients receive a complete and holistic process of care.
