Our client is a non-bank lender & investment manager that delivers investment and development funding solutions for high end residential and commercial projects. Their investor base consists of Family Offices, HNW Investors and Institutional Partners.
The role
This role offers an exciting opportunity to originate high-quality lending opportunities for a range of loan products, including senior debt, mezzanine debt, and preferred equity. As a Relationship/Business Development Manager, your focus will be on originating loan applications through third party channels and directly from borrowers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Originate high-quality lending opportunities for a suite of loan products, including senior debt, mezzanine debt, and preferred equity.
- Collaborate with senior management to evaluate and develop new lending opportunities.
- Issue terms sheets to Borrowers, highlighting key underwriting conditions.
- Prepare and review credit risk assessments to maintain high credit quality and manage risk exposure.
- Provide guidance and training to credit associates to ensure consistent origination and underwriting standards.
- Review property valuations and developer feasibilities with scrutiny.
- Collaborate with the Loan Management team to ensure compliance with approved loan terms.
- Assess requests for condition waivers and credit consent.
- Support activities to enhance the reputation and business activities of the organization.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Technical Prerequisites:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, or Property.
- Familiarity with a wide range of real estate debt products, with a focus on structured Property Finance, including construction finance.
- Preferred experience in relationship management, specifically with private investors and developers.
- Ability to effectively project manage and lead transaction/deal teams to successfully close transactions.
- Excellent relationship-building, business development, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to establish a strong market presence.
- Minimum of 8-10+ years of lending experience, showcasing strong leadership skills.
- Experience in lending, with a preference for origination (relationship management), loan structuring, and Property Finance.
- Non-bank lending experience will be looked at favourably.
