Job description

Relief Library Officer

  • Join our friendly and dynamic Library team
  • Relief role working across all library sites (weekdays and weekends)
  • $33.1931 per hour (plus 25% casual loading)

If a career in libraries is appealing, Boroondara Library Service is looking for positive and enthusiastic individuals with a strong community focus, to join our team of relief Library Officers, committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. 

Please note that these are relief positions and there are no guaranteed hours of work and successful applicants may be offered shifts across all library sites within Boroondara.

A little bit about you

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with a strong customer focus, to join our team committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. 

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role you will have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated knowledge of relevant consumer hardware and software, along with proven versatility and flexibility to manage time and plan work according to demand.

Please note shifts may be offered:

•           Weekdays - between 8am and 9.15pm

•           Saturdays - between 9.30am to 5.15pm

•           Sundays - between 12.30pm to 5.15pm

•           School holidays, Christmas/New Year period and around public holidays

Qualifications and Employment Requirements

  • Applicants must have proof of obtaining a VCE or equivalent.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
  • Applicants must have the ability to lift, push or carry library resources around library buildings (subject to OH&S regulations).
  • Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check, hold a valid Working with Children Clearance, and undertake a medical assessment. 
  • All City of Boroondara employees must be fully vaccinated. Appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to provision of evidence of vaccination status or medical exemption prior to commencement.
  • Current driver's license is advantageous.
