Alongside other Residential Care Supervisors, you will be responsible for boarding students from metropolitan, rural and remote locations, before and after school and on the weekends. We offer a safe and nurturing environment for students to live onsite and attend school to further their education. You will be able to support students as they adjust to living away from home and their day to day needs. Under the guidance of the Head of Boarding you will have opportunities to connect with families and promote community/home partnerships.
The school uses trauma informed practices as a means of supporting student needs. The successful applicant must be willing to partake in training and up-skilling in this area and will be required to utilise their interpersonal skills with students.
The role will be to supervise and lead students in their social, emotional, physical and spiritual development and wellbeing. Shifts are offered during the week and over weekends, with the requirements to stay overnight while on shift.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking an energetic and dynamic person who can engage with teenagers living away from home and support them in their goal of education.
• Be caring, empathetic and innovative.
• Support for the Catholic ethos within the school.
• Able to communicate effectively with teenagers and staff.
• Understand and demonstrate the need for confidentiality of information
• Show initiative, work independently and contribute actively to a dynamic team environment.
• Involved with other staff in the daily operation of the boarding houses.
• Engaged in co-curricular activities.
• Participate in cultural awareness sessions for students and staff.
Desirable Qualifications (NOT essential)
• Experience in Youth Work or Residential Care position.
• Bus Licence (LR, MR or HR).
• Senior First Aid Certificate.
