Restaurant Host

Anchored to the Young Street shoulder of the hotel, Brasserie 1930 delivers an elevated dining experience in consultation with The Bentley Group. Exuding grandeur and sophistication, underscored by its landmark architecture, the ground-floor restaurant features a menu of modern brasserie classics and an extensive wine list, served in a casual yet dynamic inner-city atmosphere. Highlighting small-batch farmers and growers, the menu celebrates the best in Australian produce, with cooking methods drawing upon age-old techniques such as curing, smoking, fermenting, preserving, and pickling.

Position Summary

Assisting breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Restaurant Host warmly greets and seats guests entering the restaurant and is able to assist them with their reservation enquiries. The individual is responsible for coordinating and communicating important information with the relevant departments in relations to reservations and special events.

The Role

• Proactively welcomes and acknowledges each and every guest with a smile, eye contact, and a warm verbal greeting, using the guest's name when possible. 
• Answer phones and take dining reservations from guests, ask and record preferences or special requests/occasions, and relay this information to kitchen colleagues or management.
• Ensures smooth running of the restaurant by managing customer flow among the service sections, taking into account requests for a particular table or section, depending on availability and operating standards. 
• Liaise with the F&B coordinator to update and print menu periodically to ensure they are current, clean, plentiful, and wrinkle-free or as directed by managers. 
• Maintains strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communications for operational issues, serves as a role model for inter-departmental collaboration and support. 
• Maintains confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.

Talent Profile

• Prior experience in similar role/capacity is ideal.
• Good organisation and administration skills preferred.
• Working knowledge of restaurant systems (Seven Rooms), POS, Emails is preferred but not required.
• Excellent communicator with personable character and a passion in guest relations management.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Valid working rights in Australia.
