The opportunity
This 12 month opportunity will be responsible for creating a risk aware culture amongst the Corporate Services team through embedded first-line risk management. You will partner closely with the leadership team and interfacing with other business areas to enable strong risk management in decision making and position the fund to take opportunities in support of its Strategic Business Plan.
The key deliverables and outcomes of this role will include:
- Understanding how change will be delivered into the business and ensure risks arising are assessed and effectively managed.
- Managing the roll out of relevant policy changes in relation to risk and compliance impacting your business unit.
- Driving Risk Management capability amongst our team, building strong awareness of risks, controls, and decision-making techniques.
- Conduct risk assessments supporting your area's leadership team to make critical business decisions.
- Form and manage the Business Unit risk profile in alignment with Enterprise Risk Frameworks.
- Facilitate regular measurement and monitoring of Business Unit risks through management insights provided into Business Unit leadership.
- Providing a timely response to emerging incidents.
- Oversee compliance management activities, ensuring obligations managed by the assigned area are controlled appropriately.
- Response actions to open audit incidents.
- Coordinate risk and compliance education programs in-conjunction with your second-line business partner.
- Roll out relevant risk and compliance policy changes impacting your area.
About you
We are seeking candidates with experience providing line 1 risk support, ideally in the Superannuation space. Additionally you will have:
- A very high degree of listening, engagement, and rapid adaptive delivery skills.
- A problem-solving mind - proactively identify problems and opportunities, anticipating the needs of the business and team.
- An ability to drive outcomes - take ownership and deliver upon commitments.
- An ability to build relationships - create trust and transparency with an ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Polished written communication with an ability to inform and influence Business Unit leadership.
- Strong risk management and/or audit experience (relevant accreditations preferred); with significant demonstrable professional experience, ideally in superannuation, financial services or financial advice.
- Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework governing the superannuation, funds management, financial advice, or financial services industry.
- Some experience in project risk management preferred.
