About the role

This role is responsible for ensuring the company meets its growth objectives by exceeding the state’s new business budget through the acquisition of compatible and profitable new customers. Success in the role will be enabled when a safe culture is achieved and the application of standards, policies, procedures and legislative requirements is consistent across the business. This is a frontline role, which requires a high level of communication and commercial acumen to be applied every day.
 
The purpose of the role is to drive growth through the acquisition of new customers by leading, developing and motivating the QLD sales team to optimise their performance and by personally developing and securing large opportunities in the QLD market.
 
Duties

  • Take responsibility for ensuring that all sales employees promote and are guided by the company’s service culture and deliver on the expected service levels
  • Ensure there are effective processes in place to recruit, induct, train and motivate all sales employees so that they contribute fully to the success of the business and fulfil their potential
  • Assume control of costs to ensure expenditure levels are minimised whilst ensuring costs as a percentage of sales are within budgeted targets and that branch profitability is improved as a direct result
  • Create and develop training programs for all sales employees to ensure they are set up to succeed
  • Ensure and monitor compliance with all policies, procedures and work instructions pertaining to the management of their broad customer base and escalate any issues where necessary
  • Establish and develop strategies to improve the quality and effectiveness of their sales processes
  • Identify any areas of risk including service deficiencies, resolve where possible and escalate as appropriate to ensure potential risks to the business are mitigated in a proactive manner at all times or until resolution is achieved.
 
Skills and Experience
 
  • Sound transport industry knowledge
  • Sales management experience with a proven track record of success
  • Ideally have an understanding of the bulk and parcel express freight services sector
  • Experience leading and motivating a sales team to achieve sales goals and targets
  • Excellent planning and administrative abilities
