The Role:
The position is a maternity leave 12-month fixed term contract position with the possibility of permanency.
- Day shift hours with a start time between 6am to 10am.
- Monday to Friday. The person may be required to work the occasional Saturday or Sunday (shift allowances apply) but not essential.
- Demonstrate technical competency in microbiology plate reading, microscopy set up and analysis across various benches including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and mycobacterium.
- Adhering to policies and procedures, prioritise and organise workflow safely and efficiently, and with commitment to quality.
- Maintaining and utilising equipment and instrumentation.
- Work under direct supervision of the Supervising Scientist; perform tasks as requested
To be successful in this role, you will be expected to have the following:
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification.
- Must be AIMS accredited to work as a Scientific Officer in Australia.
- At least 2 years experience working in a high throughput laboratory testing a variety of clinical specimen types.
- Medical Scientists who are on temporary working visas are eligible to apply.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
