If you’re looking for a fun and highly rewarding job in the Hunter Valley, it truly doesn't get much better than as a this!

With expansion of the business and a new purpose built Hunter Adventure Centre, an opportunity to join a small but dynamic team of people has come up.

About the Hunter Adventure Centre

www.hunteradventurecentre.com.au

Combining East Coast Corporate Group Xperiences & NSW Segway

The Hunter Adventure Centre stands as a testament to the fusion of East Coast Corporate Group Xperiences and NSW Segway, two pioneering entities dedicated to transforming the landscape of team building and recreational activities in NSW. What began as a specialised facility catering primarily to corporate team building groups has blossomed into a multifaceted destination offering some of the most exhilarating and interactive experiences available to the general public across Australia—all conveniently located at the one venue.

What I will be doing in this Job -
  • Team Building Facilitator (role 1) - As a Team Building Activity Facilitator at the Hunter Adventure Centre in Pokolbin, your role extends far beyond simply leading events. You'll be at the forefront of creating memorable experiences, both on-site and occasionally at various venues across the Hunter Valley, regional NSW and even interstate. From the adrenaline rush of Segway Seglympics, to the precision of Archery and the camaraderie of Dodgeball, you'll oversee a diverse array of activities designed to engage and entertain company delegates of all ages and abilities.
  • Segway Tour Guide (role 2) - In your capacity as a Segway Tour Guide, you'll embody the spirit of adventure as you lead groups on captivating tours through the breath-taking landscapes of the Hunter Valley's backcountry and vineyards. With a predetermined route and comprehensive tutorial at your disposal, you'll immerse guests in the region's beauty and history, all while fostering an atmosphere of excitement and exploration.
  • Activity Facilitator (role 3) - As an onsite Activity Facilitator, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional experiences to our guests, including the general admission public. One of the exciting aspects of your position involves leading Archery, Laser Clay Shooting, and Axe Throwing sessions, which are not only thrilling but also highly engaging for participants of all backgrounds and skill levels. Your responsibilities extend beyond mere supervision; you'll serve as a guide and mentor, ensuring that each participant feels comfortable, safe, and empowered to embrace the challenges and excitement of these activities. Whether it's teaching proper technique in Archery, facilitating friendly competition in Laser Clay Shooting, or fostering camaraderie in Axe Throwing, your role is to create an atmosphere of enjoyment and accomplishment.

One of the most rewarding aspects of joining our team is the constant interaction with happy and positive individuals seeking enjoyment during their holidays and weekends. The infectious enthusiasm of your guests, combined with the camaraderie among colleagues, creates an environment conducive to personal and professional fulfilment—a hallmark of the vibrant tourism industry.

Your responsibilities extend beyond guiding and facilitating activities; you'll also navigate a basic booking system to streamline guest logistics and ensure seamless transactions using EFTPOS terminals & cash sales. As a multitasking aficionado with a knack for organisation, you'll embody efficiency and adaptability in every aspect of your work.

In essence, these roles not just offer a job, but a fulfilling journey where each day presents new opportunities for growth, connection, and adventure. As a valued member of our team, you'll play an integral role in creating unforgettable experiences for our guests while forging lasting memories of your own amidst the beauty of the Hunter Valley.

About the Role / Shifts -

It will initially be a casual role, but can evolve into a part or full time role if you feel its right and we feel its right.

The initial role will include a flexible roster with 3-6 weekend days a month (more if you want) and a big portion in public and school holidays. A typical shift would range from between 9.30am and 4.30pm. But there is the occasional 7.30am-5.30pm days. Note the word flexible, we plan out rosters to fit in with everyone’s lives, as we are all about a work / play balance.

To join the team you must -

Joining our team at the Hunter Adventure Centre is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and vibrant community dedicated to providing exceptional experiences to our guests. To ensure that we maintain our high standards of service and hospitality, we have outlined some key qualities and preferences we look for in potential team members:

Essential Qualities:

  1. Motivated, Proactive, and Friendly: We seek individuals who approach their work with enthusiasm, initiative, and a positive attitude, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for our guests and colleagues alike.
  2. Confident and Enjoyable: Our team members should exude confidence in their roles and have a natural ability to make the experience enjoyable for all participants, enhancing their overall enjoyment and satisfaction.
  3. Love for the Outdoors: Given the nature of our activities, a genuine enjoyment of being outdoors and experiencing nature's beauty is essential.
  4. Ability to Work Independently: While teamwork is crucial, our team members should also be capable of working autonomously, demonstrating self-sufficiency and initiative in their roles.
  5. Reliability and Honesty: These qualities are foundational to our operations, as we rely on our team members to fulfil their responsibilities with integrity and dependability.
  6. Driver's License: A valid driver's license is essential.

Preferred but Not Essential:

  1. First Aid Certificate: While not mandatory, a first aid certificate demonstrates a commitment to guest safety and may be advantageous in certain situations.
  2. Past Tourism Industry Experience: Prior experience in the tourism industry can provide valuable insights and skills that enhance our team's effectiveness and guest experience.
  3. Event Planning/Coordination Experience: Experience in planning and coordinating events can be beneficial, particularly for individuals involved in organising and facilitating activities.
  4. Teeth & a Sense of Humour: While not traditionally listed as qualifications, a sense of humour can contribute to a positive work environment and guest interactions, making it a desirable trait among our team members. Teeth come in a close second :)

Most importantly these roles are for people that just love working with people and the outdoors. As mentioned you are dealing with people on holidays, they are happy and up beat. We have never come across a grumpy Segway tour guest, and our corporate guests are in most cases hilarious and great to be around.

Some of our current facilitators and guides are Uni students, teachers, or mums & dads supplementing their current income with some weekend work.

With full training and a great rate of pay, we are looking for immediate starters. So, if you are searching for a job you look forward to doing and get paid to do it, you need to get in touch!

If this sounds like you please apply via SEEK with a cover letter outlining why we should consider you for the position.

The positions are available to Australian Residents only. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.

Thank you for considering joining our team at the Hunter Adventure Centre, we look forward to welcoming you into our dynamic and passionate community. Thank you for your time!!
