The opportunity.
This position directly supports Defence Bank’s purpose and ensures that our members can count on us by approving credit applications which meet the requirements and objectives of our members.
The Senior Assessment Officer is a senior role with the responsibility for ensuring that applications approved meet regulatory compliance obligations; maintain the prudential integrity of Defence Bank’s loans portfolio and minimize losses incurred by the Bank.
The position is accountable for:
- Assessment of home loans, personal loans and credit card applications, ensuring team and individual KPI’s are achieved.
- Recommending lending policy and procedure updates so as to remain contemporary with industry best practice and accommodate an evolving regulatory environment.
- Working with the Business Systems team in identifying and implementing system changes.
- Providing support to Sales & Service team members to submit required and relevant information for loan applications.
- Production of scheduled and ad-hoc lending reporting.
About you.
You will have minimum 5 years Banking industry lending and credit related experience within a Senior Lending Assessment role. A Degree qualification in Banking / Finance / Accounting highly regarded.
You possess demonstrated experience or skills in:
- Exercising a meaningful Lending delegation.
- Advanced problem-solving skills with a solutions focus.
- Current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements including APRA & ASIC, Privacy Act and NCCP.
- Influencing and leading team members and departmental peers
You are a solution focused strategic thinker with the ability to think outside the box to deliver lending assessment solutions for our members. Your ability to make sound lending assessment decisions and skill in stakeholder management with the ability to negotiate outcomes will ensure your success in this role.
