Job Description

Your New Role

Reporting to the Communications & Engagement Manager, the Senior Communications & Engagement Advisor will play a key role in crafting and executing strategies for communication, stakeholder involvement, and community engagement across Development Victoria's projects. The primary goal is to elevate the reputation of both the projects and Development Victoria among various stakeholders, including government bodies, agencies, and the community, throughout all project

Core Accountabilities:

• Support Communications & Engagement Managers in formulating and executing integrated strategies for projects under delivery in the housing, civic infrastructure and precinct divisions.
• Develop proactive communications and engagement strategies to enhance the visibility of key projects and Development Victoria.
• Collaborate with internal project teams, client agencies, and partners to implement communication plans and manage issues effectively.
• Work across the Corporate Affairs team with other advisors, including the Senior Media Advisor and Senior Digital Advisor to identify and create high-quality content aimed at various channels to engage target audiences and tell the Development Victoria story.
• Assist in developing and maintaining branded collateral to a high standard.
• Keep relevant stakeholders informed about stakeholder, customer, and community attitudes and expectations.
• Provide communications support and advice to the engagement team for stakeholder and community engagement activities, , both small and large-scale.
• Build strong internal relationships within Corporate Affairs and Engagement and project delivery teams.
• Manage external stakeholder relationships to ensure clear communication and approval processes for all materials.
• Collaborate with colleagues on project Communications Working Groups where required.
• Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders to promote Development Victoria and achieve project success.
• Represent projects and Development Victoria in stakeholder and community engagement processes, including meetings, presentations, and information sessions.

Required skills and Education

• Bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a relevant discipline
• IAP2 training (desirable)
• Previous experience in a communications, journalism or Corporate Affairs role (5+ years), preferably in a government setting
• Significant experience independently managing and providing strategic advice on communications projects
• Experience working with various levels of government
• Experience in stakeholder and community engagement and providing communications materials and support for all aspects of engagement.
