Austroads is looking for a talented and creative person to develop strategic media strategies and advise on and implement project-based Stakeholder Engagement activities.
About the role:
The Senior Communications Officer- Stakeholder Engagement and Media will develop and deliver media and communications strategies to shape public and stakeholder debate about Australasian transport operations and policy. The role is responsible for raising Austroads’ public profile as a leading voice in road transport on mobility, road safety, transport infrastructure and resilience. The incumbent will need to build relationships with the media and proactively identify media opportunities.
Key functions include:
- Development and delivery of media and communications strategies to shape public and stakeholder debate about Australasian transport operations and policy.
- Building relationships with the media and proactively identifying media opportunities
- Raising Austroads’ profile as a leading voice in road transport on mobility, road safety, transport infrastructure and resilience
- Collaborating with project teams to develop stakeholder communications strategies that support behavior change and policy shifts.
About you:
The role will suit an exceptional communicator with experience in building relationships with journalists and other opinion leaders, and an understanding of how communications shapes the public policy environment and the challenges of communicating policy change with a complex stakeholder base. Specifically, the successful candidate will have:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Experience coordinating and delivering multi-channel communication strategies.
- A capacity to identify emerging risks and counsel stakeholders on communications strategies to mitigate risk.
- A service focused approach, with strong self-management and personal leadership.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills.
- A proven ability to translate strategy into action.
- Communications or marketing qualifications will be highly regarded.
