The Discipline Referral Unit (DRU) is an independent unit, responsible for conducting all police discipline referrals for the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
We aim to produce referral decisions that are well researched, evidence-based, fair, and comply with policy and legislative requirements.

Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Prepare and maintain complex and accurate records of discipline complaints and referral decisions.
• Review and assess disciplinary material to identify key facts, issues, and legislative requirements, and prepare briefings to support the decision-making of the Director.
• Monitor, evaluate and review policies, legislation, and practices across Government and within the Queensland Police Service, which impact upon disciplinary processes and liaise and negotiate with those agencies to achieve an appropriate holistic response.
• Provide high quality, well-researched advice and reports to senior management in relation to issues effecting policing of disciplinary processes and respond to such issues by developing effective policy options and strategies.
• Provide briefings to the Director in relation to specific disciplinary decisions, precedents, and other legal processes.
• Consult, liaise, and network with appropriate Service, government and nongovernment organisations, bodies, agencies, and groups.
