Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team further. Atlassian is looking for talented Senior Engineering Managers to join one of our Sydney engineering teams (i.e. Jira Server, Jira Cloud, Growth, etc.).
About the VIP Enterprise Migrations Team
Atlassian traditionally has been a server and data center first company. A few years ago, we made a strategic decision to be cloud first. Atlassian's #1 OKR is shifting our customers to cloud and as part of the Enterprise Team within Atlassian, the Migration Product Team builds the capabilities that make this shift to cloud possible for our customers. Atlassian's mission is to get cloud-ready for every customer. We have migrated some of our customers to cloud and the journey has started. We have a long way to go and a very interesting set of product and engineering problems to solve in this journey. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll be a technical leader and people manager, responsible for guiding the team to technical decisions for production services, helping prioritize and organize the team's work, and providing career growth and mentorship opportunities to your team.
The Enterprise VIP Migration team focuses on making sure our biggest and most complex customers are able to migrate their Jira, Confluence and 3rd party Apps successfully to Atlassian Cloud. The team interacts directly with customers, understand unique challenges faced by large enterprise customers migrating to cloud. The team unblocks customers by building features that address the needs of these customers and by enabling our internal customer support teams to help these customers.
You'll work closely with engineering leaders across migrations teams and across Atlassian product & platform teams. You will partner closely with your counterparts in product management and design as well as customer support teams to prioritise the teams roadmap for maximum impact.
You'll be responsible for building effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into a broader context. In this role you will manage a group of technical leads, frontline Engineering Managers, IC’s across levels and will work closely with engineering and product management counterparts to build capabilities that help us migrate more and more customers to cloud.
Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you – coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel. As a hands-on engineering leader, you will also contribute to the engineering and operational practices and bring in a continuous improvement mindset.
