The Senior Health Safety Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Advisor will be responsible for providing support in the refinement and ongoing monitoring of HSEQ policies, management plans and associated procedures while ensuring appropriate implementation in the field.
Responsibilities:
- To create a positive image of the HSEQ function as responsive, knowledgeable and able to add value by identifying relevant policies, practices, options and solutions
- Plan and participate in the implementation of HSEQ inspections, audits (internal and external) and risk assessments both in the office and on site
- Provide advice, coach and mentor managers, supervisors, employees and subcontractors to achieve workplace HSEQ objectives and targets
- Play an active role in the ongoing development of the company’s online subcontractor onboarding platform to ensure subcontractors are appropriately managed
- Support in the preparation for various third-party certification programs and company tender s as required
- Help prepare company reports using trend analysis techniques and help drive best practice improvement opportunities at a grass roots level
- Undertake risk assessments of high-risk construction activities and manage these via regular internal forums and site inspections as required
- Plan, present & participate in toolbox sessions, safety initiatives and safety campaigns
- Where required, lead incident investigation, associated reporting and outcomes
- Plan, present & participate in customer governance sessions relating to HSEQ as required
The successful candidate will have formal WHS qualifications and 5 years + relevant work experience within the construction industry.
While telecommunication experience is preferable, work at heights, civil, mobile plant and working with cranes experience; will all be highly regarded.
A detailed understanding of WHS legislation and effective written and oral communications skills will see you excel in this role.
Some interstate travel will be required on a periodic basis
