This is a great opportunity for an experienced Hydrogeologist to work with a highly specialised team of Hydrogeologists, Geologists, and Groundwater and Surface Water Engineers.
You will have a Geo-science or Engineering degree preferably with a specialisation or focus in Hydrogeology, and a minimum 7 year’s consulting in Hydrogeology. Working across a variety of interesting projects for private and public sector clients, both in the Auckland region and throughout NZ, you will be mentored by NZ industry-leading scientists and engineers. About the Role
Lead hydrogeological conceptualisation projects (conceptual model development, groundwater flow/head contouring, source-pathway-receptor understanding, surface water – groundwater interaction); Conduct hydrogeological technical assessments, using 2D and 3D numerical flow and contaminant transport modelling skills (SEEPW, MODFLOW, FEFLOW, etc); Manage ongoing work from existing clients, develop relationships with new clients, and raise both your personal profile and the company’s profile by the presentation of papers at conferences; Coordinate staff and subcontractors, liaise with regulators, client contacts, and stakeholders, and control budgets and invoicing; Provide solutions, from initial conversation to proposal to development and successful completion; Plan, write and review technical reports; Prepare environmental management plans, monitoring plans, and consent applications; Write and present expert evidence at hearings; Apply company policies in health and safety, quality, administration, and technical procedures; Work with senior scientists and engineers across the business on all the above; Conduct and oversee fieldwork (business travel might be required). What You'll Bring
Geo-science or Engineering bachelor’s degree, and ideally a post-graduate degree or master’s degree, from a well-recognised university in a geoscience-related field – preferably with a specialisation/focus in hydrogeology; Competency in groundwater resource assessment and management; Competency in GIS, excel, databasing, GoldSim, Leapfrog and other industry-related software; Competency in 2D and 3D numerical flow and contaminant transport modelling such as SEEPW, MODFLOEW, FEEFLOW; 7 years of consultancy experience as a hydrogeologist; Proven commercial and business development skills; Strong written and spoken communication skills; A broad-based scientific background with good practical experience and problem-solving skills; Good technical report writing, data analysis, and management skills; To be able to work for periods in remote locations, with an ability to travel within NZ.
