About your new branch
The Engineering, Design and Standards Branch is responsible for infrastructure engineering, design, survey, specifications, asset standards, electrical infrastructure and contributed assets across all customer and community facing infrastructure classes.
About your new role
The position is accountable to Council, through the Manager Contributed Assets, for ensuring the quality of municipal infrastructure constructed and contributed to Council by the land development industry is in accordance with development permits and the planning scheme requirements of the local authority. In addition, you will provide assistance to staff with the more complex issues, lead the sections policy and procedural update process and assist with business improvement initiatives.
The position liaises and works with a wide range of Council personnel, including City of Gold Coast Asset Custodians, statutory authorities, professional consultants, contractors, developers and the general public.
You will work under limited supervision, however, for more complex matters, you will be supported by the Supervisor Contributed Assets (Landscape and As-Constructed). The position occupant will supervise significant development projects and exercise a degree of autonomy in decision making.
Key Deliverables of the position:
- Develop, distribute, enforce and assess against as-constructed related standards in accordance with the Land Development Guidelines and Standard Electronic Format for as constructed data, including ADAC.
- Promote and educate development industry representatives on Council processes and requirements through representing Council at site meetings and statutory inspections.
- Ensure contractors produce quality assets that meet required standards and infrastructure requirements through providing direction and quality assurance of civil and landscape works (as part of development applications).
- Provide guidance on minor redesign of approved drawings (if/when required) to provide suitable solutions for latent site conditions, ensuring compliance with civil and landscape engineering principles and land development guidelines.
- Ensure that development works are constructed in accordance with land development guidelines, providing effective economic life for Council.
- Provide advice to the section Supervisor on all performance and uncompleted work bonds within the relevant area and manage Council's bonding system, including notification to relevant staff and updating of relevant computer systems as required.
- Provide advice to the Supervisor on Contributed Assets meeting Council requirements in that they are satisfactory and acceptable to Council standards.
- Lead the policy and procedural update process for the section.
- Participate in the survey plan endorsement process.
- Project manages Council compliance procedures for constructed works, the management of bond assessment though to the return of bond monies and procurement of associated works.
- Make a substantial commitment to the operational policies, practices and guidelines relevant to the role and on occasions when requested project manage the delivery of these related projects.

- You will hold a General Construction Induction white card
