Your New Organisation
With a history of nearly 20 years, our client is a retirement village group known for providing stylish, secure and affordable independent living communities for seniors across the eastern seaboard.
Your New Role
As the Senior Legal Counsel and reporting to the General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert legal guidance to the business and ensuring regulatory compliance relevant to retirement village living. You will support and advise the business on a broad range of legal areas, which may include:

• retirement villages and other relevant regulations;
• commercial;
• corporate;
• conveyancing process;
• property transactions;
• construction, development projects and land acquisitions;
• privacy;
• safety; and
• managing disputes.

You will also be involved in drafting and negotiating various legal agreements, contributing to governance, policy development, risk and compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. To be successful in this role you will need to provide timely and high-quality legal advice to employees, executives, senior management, and key decision-makers.

Your Skills Profile

• 5 - 7 years' PAE in a legal role with generalist legal skillset preferably with specialty skills in the property sector, commercial, corporate and/or retirement villages law;
• Experience working in a commercial business in a generalist in-house capacity will be highly desirable;
• Experience in strategic planning, strategic goal execution, process improvement and delivery of key performance indicators;
• Superior management skills including negotiation and communication, analytical and problem-solving and the proven ability to deal with complexity;
• Effective conflict resolution skills, coaching and mentoring skills;
• Demonstrated project/file management capability; and
• Exceptional time management and attention to detail in undertaking work requirements.
