About the role
The Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering is pivotal in orchestrating the establishment and evolution of a Cloud Centre of Excellence at RMIT University. This role holds the reins of accountability for our Cloud agenda, leading the transformation of Cloud Services and value proposition, ensuring user-friendly, best-practice-compliant, financially rigorous, and transparently governed Cloud Services. Embracing three key themes for 2024 and beyond, the Senior Manager will spearhead the integration of advanced Cloud DevSecOps principles, drive the building and optimisation of Cloud Services within major public cloud providers, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the IT Operations & Project Portfolios.
To be successful in this position you will ideally have:
Extensive IT experience, including roles directly related to cloud engineering or management within medium to large-sized organisations.
Demonstrated expertise in strategically managing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and operationally maintaining large-scale cloud solutions.
Proven track record of effective team management and building high-performing teams in agile environments.
Experience in developing and implementing technology roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy and operational metrics in complex environments.
Proficient in financial planning, road mapping, and developing strategies to optimise Cloud Services.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and externally.
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and prioritise effectively with diverse stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service and management.
Qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or related field
Vendor certifications related to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) are preferred.
Significant experience in IT/cloud operations and management.
