What do I need?
The Senior Manager, Technology Strategy is a senior member of the Group Chief Technology Officer's team. This role plays a critical part in the definition, evolution and communication of the Group's Technology Strategy. #LI-Hybrid
Key Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the definition of Westpac's Technology Strategy across multiple lenses - technical, workforce, sourcing, culture.
- Conduct market research and benchmarking on competitors, vendors, and technology trends, informing strategic insights and actions.
- Lead the creation of the annual Technology Strategy update for the Board, working closely with Group Strategy and strategy leads from the other divisions.
- Create appropriate communication materials to support staff understanding of, and engagement with, the bank's Technology Strategy.
- Preparation of presentations and speaking notes for CTO presentations and interviews.
- Preparation of strategy updates to regulatory bodies like APRA.
- Development of technology and digital education materials for consumption within the organisation, at times working with external providers to customise content for WBC management and Board.

What do I need?
The successful candidate will have:
- Deep understanding of financial services, especially banking, in Australia, and general awareness of the global banking environment.
- Grasp of new technologies (Generative AI, Cloud, Web3 etc) and an appreciation of how they can be applied for the benefit of Westpac and its customers.
- Understand the constraints of a complex legacy technology environment, whilst having the experience and confidence to help navigate a path through these challenges.
- Use knowledge of different strategic models and tools; appreciation of how they can be applied within a large complex organisation
- Able to translate business strategy into technology responses, and identify business opportunities from technology innovations.
- Able to write Board-level papers without needing multiple reviews and iterations.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools; familiarity with Jira and Confluence also desirable.
- Background is likely to be a senior architect, internal business strategist, or consultant.
- Experience in a well-rounded technology consulting, strategy or architecture function is highly regarded.
