Senior Mechanical Draftsperson

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Drafter to support the business design capabilities delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to support the business’s strategic objectives and remain a step ahead of the competition in this unwavering sector. You will ideally have previous experience, minimum 5+ years working in a design and drafting capacity within heavy capital equipment, either fixed plant or mobile for industries such as transport, mining or materials handling.

The core responsibility will be to provide a high level of engineering design and drafting support to the Sales, Service, and Operations groups of the Manufacturing Division as a member of the National Engineering Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain sales presentations and drawings to support business development efforts.
• Design and draft new and modified equipment for production using Autodesk INVENTOR.
• Create mechanical, hydraulic and electrical schematics/ wiring diagrams for new and existing products.
• Carry out CAD solid modelling and detailing of parts and assemblies to ensure accurate designs.
• Assist in further developing engineering standards and systems to improve efficiency and quality.
• Ensure all designs and drawings are done according to regulatory requirements to meet industry standards.
• Perform stress analysis, FEA’s and general calculations to ensure product integrity and durability.
• Possess experience in designs that lead to practical and efficient manufacturing, based on Lean principles.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design and drafting experience in heavy industries. (5+ years will be considered)
• Trade or Mechanical Engineering qualifications with CAD training and experience required.
• Strong 3D CAD modelling skills using INVENTOR or similar software.
• Knowledge and exposure to ADR and vehicle standards in heavy vehicle transport industry.
• Experience in sheet metal design for manufacturing and production plants.
• Familiarity with mobile products and ability to perform stress analysis and general calculations.
• Understanding of Lean principles and ability to design practical and efficient manufacturing solutions
