The Aurenne Group is a private company who acquired the historic Mt Ida - Bottle Creek gold field, 80 km west of Menzies in 2019. Last mined by Norgold in the late 1980’s, we have a combined tenement package of 400km in a highly prospective setting for both gold and lithium.
In the past twelve-months, we have developed brand new infrastructure including a state-of-the-art camp, new processing facility, offices, and work areas. The site currently contains water and power services, a 190 person Village, power station, site buildings, aerodrome and borefield.
About the role
Aurenne Group Mining is currently seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Mine Geologist to join the team at our Mt Ida Gold Project. Reporting to the Group Geology Superintendent, the responsibilities for role are to provide leadership, management, technical direction, and undertake, mine geological activities.
Your duties will include:
- Leading the geological understanding and presentation of the deposit, in terms of genesis, chemistry, geometry, grade distributions and controls, PAF/NAF, reactivity, mineralogy, structure and waste and ore definition.
- Ensuring geological information is used in developing production, planning and operating the business is acquired, captured and presented in accordance with company and professional standards and time frames for mining production and planning
- Developing and maintaining specifications and standards for the capture of geological information, and critically the methodology and quality of sampling and its representation of grade.
- Planning and organizing all in-pit shift grade control activities.
- Supervising grade control drilling and sampling and ensure that quality is guaranteed during the data gathering stage of the grade control process
- Supervising the day-to-day (or shift) ore mining to minimize dilution, maximize recovery and prevent ore misclassification/misdirection
- Design and manage production management systems including the daily production spreadsheet and daily, weekly and monthly reporting of all key metrics and the design and implementation of data handling and other geological work place procedures
- Monitoring of the ore stockpiles to ensure that the various grade categories get to their respective fingers
- Mentoring, supervising and checking the work of Mine Geologists and Pit Technicians and ensure that all instructions are carried out effectively and efficiently
- Collaboration with the mine engineers to ensure the mine is operated effectively and efficiently and liaising with mill managers on mill feed quality and optimization
- Undertake 3D geological modelling using in-pit mapping including structural mapping to inform resource and grade control block model development.
- Undertake grade control ore block design, grades and tonnes and ore recovery optimization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary degree qualification in Geology from a recognised University.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience. contemporary leadership methods.
- Able to work cooperatively with teams by being a productive team player.
- Able to liaise and work effectively with colleagues within the Company and with various external parties.
- Experience using acQuire database, Leapfrog Geo & Edge and Deswik
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely & improve team safety awareness.
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
