About the role

The Senior Occupational Therapist is an experienced and highly competent clinician who as a member of the interdisciplinary team, delivers quality services to clients within SA Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, and provides clinical/professional leadership in the area of brain injury to Occupational Therapists working within SA BIRS, across Central Adelaide Local Health Network and South Australia.

This role has leadership responsibilities within the CALHN Occupational Therapy Network and collaborates with other Clinical Seniors to actively promote and contribute to research and evaluation to inform improvements in clinical practice and holds a portfolio relevant to services on behalf of CALHN OT.

This position is based in the inpatient SA Rehabilitation Brain Injury Unit (BIRU) located at the Repat Health Precent. BIRU provides post-acute inpatient rehabilitation in SA for patients, prioritising those with traumatic brain injury (TBI) presenting with complex neurological, neuro-cognitive or neuro-behavioural needs. It is a South Australian state-wide specialist rehabilitation service, which also provides services for clients from western New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

About you:

You will have:

  • An appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Registration Board of Australia and general registration with Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Highly developed ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with clients, carers, staff and relevant others.
  • Extensive and current clinical experience working in Occupational Therapy with adults with brain injury.
  • Ability to lead and foster teamwork and co-operation between occupational therapy and across multiple disciplines and within teams of diverse membership.
  • The ability to apply high level professional judgement, clinical reasoning, and skills to the clinical management of patients with significant levels of complexity.
  • Evidence based knowledge of Occupational Therapy best practice in management of patients with brain injury.
