About the role

As Environment Planner, you will be part of the Environment Assessment team and responsible for the provision of specialist environmental planning advice to development assessment activities and contribute towards Departmental compliance with statutory timeframes and Council's corporate application expectations in relation to DA processing times.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Review documentation and reports, setting environmental requirements and construction standards for development activities
  • Consult on, advise and negotiate environmental planning matters with Council's customers in order to achieve sustainable development outcomes for Council and the Ipswich community
  • Contribute to the development and review of environment policy relating to development and the establishment of operational procedures
  • Perform audit inspections, surveillance and quality control of works associated with development activities

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Planning
  • High level of knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, standards, guidelines and best practice in relation to the development industry
  • High level of communication skills across a broad range of communication materials and well developed skills in negotiation
  • C class drivers' licence
  • Belief in our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership

About the benefits

This is a six (6) month fixed term position from May to November 2024 with a salary commencing at $85,139 plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
