About the role
The Senior Process Safety Analyst manages application of a safety case regulatory regime to a number of Victorian major hazard facilities at various stages of the regulatory process such as Safety Case preparation, Safety Case compliance assessment, and oversight of safety performance after licensing.
The role will be responsible for interpreting and implementing business plans from an operational perspective and be accountable of results as part of the core business of WorkSafe Victoria. In addition to this, aligning resources to, and leading targeted projects and programs.
Key accountabilities
- Plan, manage and lead the assessment of Safety Case submissions from major hazard facilities for compliance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety (Major Hazard Facilities) Regulations 2017 using the appropriate procedures from the Safety Case Assessment Framework.
- Assist Operators of registered major hazard facilities improve safety performance by exploring issues and developing practical strategies and means of assistance such as guidance material.
- Maintain overview of safety performance, issues and trends in a specific industry sector of the major hazard facilities (Industry Facilitator role).
- Provide mentoring or guidance in areas of specific expertise to Operators of major hazard facilities and other members of the major hazards teams.
- Develop new or improved procedures for the regulatory duties of the analyst team to be done in a sound, transparent and efficient manner.
About you
You are an experienced Process Safety Analyst who is passionate about health & safety. You are a problem solver, with highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills. You are a team oriented person who is committed to integrity and enjoys delivering positive outcomes for your team and stakeholders.
Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Ability to work autonomy and undertake a high level of complex and analytical work that has significant implications across WorkSafe Victoria operations.
- Demonstrated experience while working within clear and established management system, legislative/regulatory provisions and professional standards.
- You will have a direct influence on and involvement in the development of policies and delivery of targeted programs / projects.
- 5 - 10 years of relevant experience and demonstrated ability to lead others in implementing risk assessment and risk management in complex organisations.
- Detailed knowledge and a high level of specific technical expertise relevant to chemicals management and prevention of major hazard incidents.
- Qualification in engineering or process chemistry.
