The Opportunity
With unprecedented growth in the region, Melton has committed significant investment in the construction of new building assets along with best practice maintenance of its existing portfolio of buildings and facilities, these are utilised to deliver Councils’ services to the Community as well as those from third party and other providers. This role provides an opportunity to participate in the ongoing development and growth of the facility maintenance team tasked with the delivery of operational services, these include programmed maintenance, functionality inspections and on-site triage of escalated incidents to support the work of the Front-Line services desk. The position reports to the Program Leader Maintenance Services working as part of the Operations Service Unit under the Planning and Development directorate.
Key Responsibilities
- Working as a part of the In-house Service team, liaise with and organise support from specialist contractors and trade suppliers in relation to make safe, repair and investigation tasks.
- Action Work Orders and Customer Action requests as directed tasks as required, including the procurement of materials and equipment.
- Undertake additional non-repair works such as the installation of new or replacement equipment, heavy lifting, furniture shifting and the like.
- Ensure that all PPE, tools, machinery, plant, and equipment used by the In-House Services team are checked, maintained, test and tagged according to councils OH&S practices and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Participate in the development, deployment, and oversight of the In-House Services team use of operational practices compliant with the organisations Occupational Health & safety, Risk and Industry best practices.
- Participate in the after-hours duty roster.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Post Trade Certificate or TAFE certificate courses or equivalent with knowledge and skills gained through 'on the job' training with experience commensurate with the requirements of this role.
- Experience with providing direction and leadership of trade services teams to achieve numerous and varying objectives, specifically in the fields of facility maintenance and construction.
- Demonstrate understanding of the customer service skills required for appropriate and successful interaction with facility users, service contractors, suppliers and the like.
- Current valid Victorian drivers licence.
