The role
We have a rare opportunity to join the Heavy Industries team as a Senior Underwriter, Construction. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, Heavy Industries you will underwrite new business and renewals of high complexity and/or volume within set underwriting guidelines, authority levels and service standards; and manage key portfolios/accounts with intermediaries.
How will I help?
A day in the role may look a bit mile this;
Contribute to the development and implementation of the BU Business Plan
Actively manage renewal portfolio and new business targets
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders for profitable growth
Underwrite complex risks in accordance with defined limits of authority, organisational policy and underwriting standards
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, brokers and colleagues
Actively manage portfolios and strengthen relationships with stakeholders to deliver business retention, growth and profitability targets
Actively increase and share knowledge of QBE capability, risk appetite and products as well as brokers’ operations to strengthen our delivery of innovative solutions
Monitor and communicate activity within your portfolio, brokers and competitors and report on opportunities and risks to improve results
What do I need?
To be successful as Senior Underwriter, Construction you will have relevant and recent experience in a similar role, with a solid working knowledge of Construction and Underwriting. You will also have….
At least 5 years of relevant underwriting experience
Strong established customer / broker relationships
Extensive knowledge of relevant market conditions
Working knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and underwriting
