At Manly Community Kindergarten Association (MCK) we currently have a rare opportunity for an experienced Service Manager/Teacher to lead our service and program delivery.
For over 30 years, Manly Community Kindergarten Association (MCK) has engaged, supported and prepared children aged 3.5 years to school age for their future educational pathways. Our Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program is a play-based environment set amidst a quiet and tranquil nature’s reserve.
We recognize the valuable contribution and lasting impact our educational staff have on our families and are looking to build the MCK team with Teachers who understand the pivotal role they play in our local community.
This position is part time, teaching the start of the week program, while being provided additional non-contact time to undertake Service Manager duties. This equates to 60 hours per fortnight.
As a not for profit organisation, you will partner with a committed Volunteer Management Committee to support the vision, strategy and operations of the Kindergarten. MCK is proudly affiliated with Lady Gowrie so you’ll also benefit from the advisory services and support they provide.

It is paramount that children receive services that meet their individual needs and enhance their ongoing cognitive, emotional, physical and social development.

You will provide pedagogical leadership to drive service performance to ensure the service meets and strives to exceed National Quality Standards. You will thoughtfully provide clear direction, support and continuous learning for the MCK staff. In addition, it is imperative you have the commercial acumen required to effectively manage financial and physical resources to deliver quality outcomes for the education program.
To be successful you will need:
- Completed Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood teaching qualification.
- Registration with Queensland College of Teachers preferred or pathway to registration can be discussed with preferred applicant.
- Prior teaching in the early years or prep setting and experience as a Service Manager/ Responsible Person/ Nominated Supervisor/ Senior Leadership Position in an early childhood setting are essential.
- Demonstrated leadership ability including staff performance appraisal and management.
- Ability to plan and implement a quality, educational and child centred program.
- A passion for pedagogy and practice.
- Capability of meeting the needs of individual children and the group.
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, Early Years Learning Framework, and National Quality Framework.
- Hold a current Blue Card/Exemption Card.
- Hold current first aid/CPR including asthma and anaphylaxis.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience which demonstrates leadership and understanding of the day to day management of an early childhood education and care service.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication / presentation skills.
- Ability to self-manage and meet timelines.
- Demonstration of initiative and innovation.
- Commitment to quality outputs and competent in information technology.
- Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline and the National Quality Standard is essential.
- General knowledge and/or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant legislations.
