Shine Bright EYMHub Manager

Position: Hub Manager 

Location: Maiden Gully Early Years Hub, Bendigo 

Hours: Full-time - 38 hours per week

The Maiden Gully Early Years Hub (‘Hub”) is a 152 place kindergarten and childcare centre that has been in operation since early 2021. The education and wellbeing of children is fundamental to everything that we do. We advocate strongly for children and families and believe in a wrap-around service provision model of early learning and care. About the role: 

The Hub Manager will take on the role and responsibility of the Nominated Supervisor and will lead the development and operations of the Maiden Gully Early Years Hub (‘Hub’). The role will work effectively with staff, families, and local community to ensure the best outcomes for children and staff. This position will drive a culture that promotes continuous improvement and service excellence.

This role is integral to aligning the Hub with Shine Bright’s purpose, values, and strategic intent. 

The role is accountable for the overall operation of the early childhood service to ensure the provision of a viable and effective education and care service for children, families, and the community. The child will have a strong sense of identity

Overview of Responsibilities: 

  • Overall responsibility for the management of the Maiden Gully Early Years Hub
  • Nominated Supervisor responsibilities - refer to the Nominated Supervisor position description for detailed responsibilities. Keep the Early Years Manager informed of appropriate information and/or actions taken and seek approval as required. 
  • Up-hold and articulate Shine Bright’s ‘Table of Quality’ and the ‘Shine Bright Way’.
  • Embed Shine Bright’s performance management and practice development framework.
  • Coordinate weekly roster, includes adjusting template based on planned leave/staff movement or shift changes, arranging casual staff to fill shifts and liaising with relief team as required 
  • Be responsible for supporting educators to create required documentation in order to access Inclusion Support Funding. Be responsible for entering funding requests and interacting with /providing evidence to the Inclusion Support Portal, this requires PRODA access.
  • Provide support to staff in effective communication strategy in line with the Shine Bright’s Code of Conduct and ECA’s Code of Ethics.
  • Develop activities to engage with the local community, such as parent education groups in conjunction with the Educational Leader.
  • Lead the team in working towards an exceeding rating under the National Quality Framework. Implement and evaluate high quality educational programs.
  • Lead and support the facilitation of service planning of the Hub’s Allied Health and Training Academy.
  • In conjunction with the Early Years Manager and Early Years Advisor represent Shine Bright where possible in Early Years Networks within local area and more broadly across the sector.
  • Support and encourage staff to provide the best possible outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families within our communities. 
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships to promote Shine Bright’s aims and objectives in the local community so that they are clearly understood. 
  • Actively promote the services of the Maiden Gully Hub as a ‘provider of choice’ and liaise with local communities to ensure enrolment numbers are viable. 
  • Lead and coordinate staff meetings. 
  • In consultation with the Early Years Manager, review the operating model for continuous improvement; identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Manage the operational budget in line with agreed assumptions and budget allocations, ensuring the ongoing viability of the service. 
  • Identify and manage any risks and/or compliance issues as they arise, such as incidents, complaints, and staff performance management with the support of the People and Culture Team.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with legislative requirements, funding requirements and service/lease agreement obligations.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with organisational policies and procedures and develop new policies and procedures in consultation with the Early Years Advisor, as appropriate.
  • Follow organisational procedures for any arising maintenance and infrastructure matters.
  • Liaise with and support the Hub’s onsite tenants e.g. Maternal Child Health and Allied Health services.

About you: 

The successful candidate will have a passion to educate children and work in a collaborative manner with their colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their professionalism, flexibility, leadership, ability to work with others and to foreground First Nations perspectives in their pedagogy and practice.

  • Minimum Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care as approved by ACECQA - Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority.
  • Extensive working experience in the early year’s sector. 
  • Solid knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, National Quality Framework and approved Early Years Learning Development Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Relevant management qualifications or demonstrated management experience.
  • Significant experience and skill in staff leadership including the ability to manage and develop a cohesive team.
  • Solid professional experience in stakeholder management and engagement, community development, business management and children services.
  • Solid experience and passion in embedding Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander perspectives in practice and ensuring that the service provide a setting that is culturally safe and understanding in accordance with our Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Demonstrated commitment to your own professional development.
  • National Police Check, hold a Working with Children Check and Victorian Driver’s License.
