About the role 
  
Reporting to the Communications Team Lead, your role will oversee the Cancer Council Queensland’s Social Media platforms, plus providing traditional PR media support to enhance, protect and promote the Cancer Council Queensland brand and mission.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Writing, editing, and posting Social Media content and other media assets.
  • Assist the Multimedia Specialist in capturing and editing (video and photography) for organic Social Media content.
  • Devising organic Social Media strategy, content calendar and engagement plan for maximised engagement and reach across organic Social Media platforms.
  • Oversee all organic engagement on Social Media channels.
  • Engage with subject matter experts within CCQ where necessary.
  • Analyse campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for continuous improvement of Social Media engagement.
  • Work with the Communications Team Lead and Senior Communications Advisor to develop, recommend and implement media strategies and campaigns.
  • Coordinate media monitoring, including sending media reports/summaries to the relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Monthly Social Media and media reporting
  • Research current developments in best practice in media and communications to inform CCQ messaging.
  • Assist the Communications Team Lead and Senior Communications Advisor in monitoring news and current affairs for information and developments relevant to CCQ.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position, 5 days a week, to cover business requirements of a 37.5-hour week.
  
About you  
   
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a creative team player with proven experience managing and creating content for Social Media platforms.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills 
 
Essential Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Marketing and/or Communications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a writing, communications, Social Media, or journalism role.
  • Experience in Social Media content creation and managing Social Media platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Experience in analysing, collating, and providing reports on Social Media results across multiple platforms as well as content strategy and planning.
  • Proven experience or a demonstrated understanding of the ever-changing news cycle.
  • Ability to manage high workload, busy environment and competing stakeholder interests in a deadline-driven team.
  • Ability to identify and create compelling content for traditional media and organic Social Media channels.
  • Ability to conceptualise, shoot edit and post videos for Social Media platforms.
  • Attention to detail and nuance in communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision and display initiative and self-motivation.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to consult, build networks and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Meta Business Suite, TikTok for Business, LinkedIn, Canva
Desirable Skills: 
  • Knowledge of or proven experience working within the health sector.
  • Knowledge or proven experience working within a charity or non-for-profit organisation.
  • Experience with video and photo editing using Premier Pro and Adobe Creative Suite.
