Based in Birtinya, within the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, we are a busy, well-established specialist practice, with a number of visiting surgeons and physicians. Our practice is unique in our approach to total patient care and you will be an integral part of the process. Our medical secretaries play a vital role in our service delivery, and in the journey of our patients.
You will be working in a friendly, supportive and collaborative environment which is demanding of your skills and enthusiasm. In this part-time position, of approximately 20 hours per week, you will be an empowered member of a supportive growing team.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- answering phone calls and emails
- scheduling appointments and booking surgery
- managing doctor's schedules
- invoicing and accepting payments
- liaising with other providers

- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Recent experience in a similar medical specialist environment.
- Uncompromising attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Strong use of initiative and ability to learn quickly.
- Honesty and integrity
- Punctuality and reliability
- Ability to work independently under pressure as well as part of a team.
- Proficient computer skills, with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Genie software.
- Sound understanding of medical terminology and accurate medical typing skills
- Availability to cover annual and sick leave of other staff from time to time as required.
