What you'll be doing
- To ensure that specific requirements of AS NZS 4187:2014 - "Reprocessing of reusable medical devices in health service organizations", are achieved.
- Provide training, technical advice and mentoring to all staff to ensure customer needs is met.
- Manage delegated financial responsibilities, through the development and maintenance of appropriate strategies and effective allocation of resources, to ensure optimal health outcomes are managed within budget.
- Assist in the management of resources, budgets, assets, projects, and staffing to maximise achievement of goals and required level of skills and performance.
- Ensure all activities associated with purchasing and supply are aligned with NSW Health policies.
- Develop good working relationships and maintain communication with all staff members of the health care facility;
- Contribute to Quality improvement activities
- Assist the Manager with the day to day operational activities of the unit by ensuring that the staff provide a reprocessing service in accordance with Statutory Requirements and that customer requirements are fulfilled.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Certificate III or higher in Sterilisation Services and relevant qualifications in management or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience including significant experience in operational management of Sterilising Services in an acute hospital setting.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills to develop and enhance staff performance, influence workplace culture, motivate and achieve organisational goals.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, and other key stakeholders utilising highly developed communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and evaluation at strategic and service levels, with an ability to provide clear and concise reports.
- Comprehensive, up to date knowledge of sterilising technology processes, standard and statutory requirements including knowledge of AS4187:2014 and National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
- Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
