Job description

Cecil Andrews College, located in Seville Grove, Perth, is actively searching for a dedicated and collaborative Student Support Coordinator. This pivotal role will focus on leading programs tailored for Year 11 and 12 Senior School students.

As a Student Support Coordinator, you would play a key role in developing and leading programs specifically designed for Year 11 and 12 Senior School students. Your responsibilities include collaborating with educators, parents, and external partners to ensure a holistic and supportive learning environment.
The successful applicant would be responsible for planning and implementing the advocacy program, working with members of the Student Services team, the Careers and Pathways Coordinator and the Vocational Education and Training Coordinator, to plan meaningful and relevant sessions. A strong focus on pathway planning, Western Australian Certificate of Education tracking and pastoral care is pivotal to support students to achieve to the best of their ability and find their individual student pathway option to success.
As a Student Support Coordinator, you would assist with administrative processes that ensure a responsive and effective Student Support service. The successful applicant would work with the Student Services team to assist in developing and introducing systems and intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support service for students, their families and staff. You will ideally need to display exceptional interpersonal skills and possess the ability to develop supportive links between the student, the family, the College and other appropriate agencies in the community. You should ideally be reliable and flexible whilst providing support and effective assistance as part of the Student Services team.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Well developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Well developed research, conceptual and analytical skills and experience in identifying problems and developing appropriate intervention strategies and support programs.
  • Skills and experience in working with individual or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties.
  • Knowledge of the youth sector, particularly local organisations and services.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
  • possess a Tertiary qualification in the Social or Behavioural Science area
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
