As the Specialist Senior Mine Planner for an underground gold mine, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the Mine Planning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of gold resources. This leadership position requires a strong background in Mine Planning, and operational management to coordinate and manage various aspects of the mining process.
The Role:
- Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans, considering geological data, ore body characteristics, and mining constraints to optimize gold recovery.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates to mine plans based on ongoing exploration results and operational feedback.
- Work closely with mining engineers and production teams to optimize underground mining methods, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Implement best practices for ore handling, transportation, and processing to maximize production yields and minimize operational costs.
- Develop and manage budgets for Mine Planning activities, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Monitor and analyse production costs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
- Prioritise and enforce safety protocols and environmental compliance throughout Mine Planning activities.
- Conduct regular safety audits and collaborate with safety officers to implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Communicate regularly with senior management, providing updates on Mine Planning activities, production forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as geology, engineering, and environmental, to ensure alignment in project objectives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the Mine Planning process.
- Implement and oversee new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mine Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in underground gold mining, with a proven track record in Mine Planning and operations management.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- In-depth knowledge of Mine Planning software and relevant industry tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in mining.
