About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert tax advice, preparing accurate tax returns, and assisting clients with tax planning strategies to optimize their financial position.
This role requires a strong understanding of Australian tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively.
This role is ideally suited to a self starter, who is comfortable with working from home 100% of the time.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities, ensuring compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations.
- Provide proactive tax planning advice to clients, identifying opportunities for tax minimization and optimization of financial outcomes.
- Conduct research on tax issues, interpret tax legislation, rulings, and case law to provide accurate and timely advice to clients.
- Assist clients with tax compliance matters, including lodgment obligations, payment arrangements, and responding to tax authorities' inquiries or audits.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, communicating updates and implications to clients and colleagues.
- Collaborate with other members of the accounting team to provide integrated financial solutions and deliver exceptional client service.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and providing ongoing support and guidance.
- Contribute to the growth and success of the firm by participating in business development activities, networking events, and marketing initiatives.
Skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation, or working towards preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
- Thorough knowledge of Australian tax laws, including income tax, GST, fringe benefits tax, and payroll tax.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax issues and provide practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively convey technical tax concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and accounting systems, with experience using Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all work performed.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
