The Role and our Branch
Finance Services is seeking a highly motivated Taxation Support Officer to join their team.

The Tax Support Officer prepares end-of-month fringe benefits tax (FBT) reports from financial and human resource systems and reconciliations in accordance with requirements of taxation legislation, the Financial Management Act, Regulations, Treasurer’s Instructions and Australian Accounting Standards. You will prepare end-of-month goods and services tax (GST) reports from financial systems and prepare the Business Activity Statement for review and submission to the Australian Taxation Office.
The successful applicant will reconcile various fringe benefits and maintain the relevant register for end-of-year requirements. You will also review motor vehicle taxation information from regions, collate motor vehicle information from Commercial Services, Fleetcare and Riskcover in preparation for FBT end-of-year requirements. It is preferable you will have experience in Finance specifically GST and FBT.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
