This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Japanese language teacher to join their friendly team.

The successful applicant should have an excellent knowledge of the Japanese Languages curriculum. They should have expertise in planning and teaching Japanese, providing an engaging learning environment where students are inspired and motivated to learn.

The successful applicant will ideally have effective interpersonal skills and foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff, families and community members. They should engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching approach and should be committed to whole-school pedagogical approaches. Effective classroom management, the ability to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and promote an environment of active and positive learning are also a strong focus for the position.

The successful applicant should support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. They should actively participate in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
