About the Position
Reporting to the Coordinator Childhood and Youth Services, this position oversees the daily operations of the Youth Services team, including the City's four Youth Centres, and Youth Outreach programs. It involves staff recruitment, supervision and leadership, and ensuring continued service excellence of the high performing team.
The role is also responsible for:
- Overseeing the daily operations of the City's four youth centres and youth outreach programs, including rosters, training, programming and regular on-call requirements, in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, processes and procedures.
- Day to day supervision of staff, including performance, conduct and safety, and allocation of tasks set within limits set by the Leader ensuring the efficient and effective deployment of resources.
- Developing, implementing and evaluating youth initiatives and programs that meet identified needs and increases meaningful youth engagement and participation.
- Leading and overseeing the City's workplace health and safety requirements of the Youth Services team.
- Acting as a point of contact for customers and stakeholders, and responding to enquiries; ensuring that these are addressed, resolved and/or re-directed for resolution.
- Contributing to budget preparation and the delivery of services within budget.
- Leading and contributing to the preparation of reports and other papers tailored to the needs of the target audience; and
- Continuous improvement of processes and initiatives.

About You
We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic leader with a passion for Youth Services, who is dedicated to providing a high quality customer experience. You will have operational leadership experience in youth service, supervising staff, developing and managing budgets, building team culture, aligning work to strategic priorities, and ideally have a strong understanding of local government.
This exciting role requires the successful candidate to be skilled in supervising the work of others, providing technical assistance and motivating staff. As such, you will be able to demonstrate through your resume and cover letter that you meet the following capabilities:
- Experience in a similar role, particularly in a youth operations environment;
- Qualification in relevant discipline such as Youth Services or equivalent experience;
- Experience in supervising the work of others, providing technical assistance and motivating staff;
- Experience managing youth centre and outreach operations, including staff rostering;
- Effective time management and budget management skills;
- Exceptional customer service, communication and problem solving skills;
- Experience writing memos, reports and other documents, ideally in a local government environment;
