About the role:
We are looking for a Technical Consultant, located in Sydney or Melbourne. This is a uniquely challenging 6 month full time contract role, with potential to renew; it is a hybrid of technical expert and consultant. This is a customer facing position providing technical consultancy and support (Hybrid of work from home and office).

Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical consultancy to our customers
- AD/AAD admin with a primary focus on BAU including service optimisation
- Ticket resolution
- BAU improvements
- Define, design, build, deliver and run the engagement’s, platform’s and/or products required.
- Participate in multi-functional teams in delivering consulting engagements.
- Broad technical knowledge and experience with a disciplined and best practice approach
- Understand our customer business requirements and how to use technology to reach these business goals.
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders and vendors (including C level executives)
- Experience in managing development & production environments.
- Ability to propose and implement solutions to remediate the root cause of major issues.
- Demonstrable technical ability in the following disciplines: server virtualization and storage, networking and security, email systems
- Ensuring changes are documented, reviewed, presented in CAB, and implemented in such a way as to minimise risk to our clients’ business operations.
- Demonstrated growth mindset, enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly & applying the gained knowledge to address business problems.
- Ability to communicate with clients on a business level and translate their needs into a technical solution.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Office 365, Azure AD & Cloud systems
- Working knowledge of SharePoint
Position Overview:
- Consult with customers on best IT applications and solutions.
- Design and implement a technology strategy for our clients.
- Work with and manage other 3rd party service providers to deliver tasks and projects for our clients.
- Consult on customer presales and design requirements (establish requirements and recommend best practices and software applications solutions)
- Use the consultation process to negotiate and confirm contract requirements with relevant customers and vendors.
- Determine IT project requirements: Project specifications and other relevant documentation are obtained and analysed to establish project requirements.
- Communicate unresolved issues, concerns and problems raised by team members and follow up with line manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Lead projects that transform our client’s business
- Build trusting and collaborative relationships with our client.
- Partner with solution architects to design superior solutions.
- Delegating work and assignments to team members
- Develop project plans and contingencies to ensure contract requirements are met.
- Review draft documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance of information & disseminate to relevant stakeholders for feedback.
- Evaluate and take necessary corrective action regarding unresolved issues, concerns and problems raised by stakeholders.
- Supervising system modifications
- Guiding the team through technical issues and challenges.
- Comply with Starboard IT’s Information Security policies & procedures, including but not limited to; passwords, personal, company & client information and reporting security incidents or concerns.
Essential Experience:
- Microsoft Certified: O365, MCSE, Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure Administrator & Fundamentals.
- Experience in a Technical lead engineer
- Experience as an IT consultant
- Experience and working knowledge of ITSM concepts.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the IT industry
- Tertiary qualifications (e.g., Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering)3.
- Industry certs: CCNP, ITIL, VMWare, EMC
- Scripting languages: PowerShell
- Experience with Azure Security Configuration & AWS Cloud
Highly Desirable Experience:
- Azure solutions architect certified
- PAM and Identity Access Management
- Microsoft Office, DHCP, DNS, File & Print, IIS, Terminal Services, SQL Server, System Center
- AWS certified (Fundamentals to Solutions Architect)
- PMP
- CISSP
