Our Water and Environment team deliver water resource planning projects for key clients including the Murray Darling Basin Authority, the National Water Grid Authority, State Governments and Regional Councils. We are looking for an experienced Technical Director – Water Resource Planning to be based within either the ACT, NSW or Victoria to complement our existing regional water resources capability.
This opportunity would support an individual looking to deliver projects for Federal clients, with the option of working remotely to our Canberra office. Alternatively, you might already be working in Canberra, and are looking to work on a diverse range of projects for a global consultancy.
The Role
Using your significant experience in environmental water management, create and implement a business approach to service Federal Government clients focused on rural water policy and strategy.
Contribute to Integrated Water Management and strategic planning projects across the water business. This will include servicing Victoria and NSW Government clients.
With a strong focus on winning work, you will network widely both within GHD and with current and emerging clients. It is expected that you will spend time in the Canberra office when required.
Contribute to the teams success by leading in the implementation of a range of water resource and environmental projects from proposal phase through to project completion, working within GHD’s systems. In particular, this role will have a strong focus across water resource projects for Federal Government clients.
Undertake business development, secure new projects and develop trusted advisor relationships with clients.
Supervision, training and mentoring of staff.
Pursue technical excellence in the delivery of water and environmental projects, utilising previous expertise working with Federal and State Government clients.
What you will bring to the team
Be an accomplished practitioner in your field bringing 10+ years' experience to the role in water resource planning.
a strong local and regional market presence; an individual who can provide technical leadership and business development focus
Experience in providing technical recommendations for bids as well as writing and crafting proposals and reports for projects
Strong judgment and decisiveness; bias for action
Ability to influence others, good negotiating skills
Relevant tertiary qualification - Bachelor of Environmental Science/Engineering, Environmental Planning or Urban Planning
